Introduction: the legal regulation of civil law contracts in the new federal subjects is characterized by the complex intertwining of Russian legislation norms with preserved elements of Ukrainian law and the Donbas republics’ own legislation. This transitional period has created a unique legal situation requiring a thorough analysis of the problems arising when concluding civil law contracts in the territories of the new subjects of the Russian Federation. Particular attention must be paid to the legal uncertainty regarding the citizenship status of parties to contractual relations and its impact on the legal capacity of the parties. In this regard, the purpose of the work is to identify the legal problems of concluding civil law contracts in the territories of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Lugansk People’s Republic, Zaporozhie, and Kherson regions under the conditions of the transitional period of integration into the legal space of the Russian Federation. Methodology: the research methodology is based on the application of methods of formal logic and systematic and structural analysis, as well as the comparative law method and the methods of legal experimentation, legal forecasting, and interpretation of legal norms. Results: the study analyzes the conflicts between the norms of Russian and Ukrainian legislation and the Donbas republics’ own legislation that arise in the regulation of contractual relations. Conclusions: the research reveals a complex correlation between federal and regional legal regulation during the transitional period, as well as the restrictions imposed by the martial law. The problems in the functioning of the judicial system, the state registration of real estate rights, the legal regime of nationalized property, and the implementation of foreign economic activity are noted. The main obstacles to the stability of civil turnover are identified, and directions for over coming them are formulated. The work underscores the need for a comprehensive legislative solution to the identified problems for the successful integration of the new subjects into the economic and legal space of the Russian Federation.
