Introduction: the paper presents the results of a comprehensive analysis of the ways provided for by family law legislation to protect family values. The authors of the paper believe that in conditions of strong socio-cultural pressure on Russian society from the globalist movement, the state should develop legal mechanisms that prevent the spread of norms of behavior and pseudo-family values that are alien to domestic society. Exploring the approaches existing in legal science to understanding the category of “family values,” the authors propose to significantly expand the content of this category. The authors of the paper systematize the existing legal ways of protecting family values. Purpose: to determine the legal content of the concept of “family values,” to systematize the ways to protect family values, and to evaluate their effectiveness. Methods: the main research methods used in the work are dialectical and sociological methods in jurisprudence, providing a comprehensive and complete study of legal ways to protect family values. Results: the authors have investigated the problems of using legal methods to protect traditional family values in Russian society. Conclusions: as a result of the study, the authors propose the inclusion of a number of prohibitions in the content of family values, such as the inadmissibility of marriage between persons of the same sex, including their actual cohabitation; the inadmissibility of sex change; and the inadmissibility of fictitiousness in the occurrence or termination of family relations. Based on the results of the study, it was found that modern family law in the Russian Federation allows for preserving and protecting traditional values, as well as countering the expansion of family relations alien to Russian society.
Key words: family law, family values, ways to protect family rights, family legal relations, family.
