Abstract. The article analyzes the efforts taken at international and national levels to ensure family protection. The special attention is paid to the analysis of the provisions of international human rights treaties devoted to the issues of family protection as well as to the practice of their control mechanisms – treaty bodies on human rights – responsible for the interpretation of governmental obligations in this sphere. The author concludes that there is a necessity to exchange the best practices in the area of family policy elaboration at international, regional and national levels in order to guarantee the progress of strengthening the governmental obligations in this sphere. In this relation the Conception of state family policy in the Russian Federation adopted in 2014 may become a positive example for states for the period up to 2025.
