Abstract. The article deals with the problem of information imbalance in coverage of regional public administration institutions activities. The authors present the theoretical analysis based on institutional theory approach (transactional costs minimizing). As an example, the specifics of informational imbalance in media coverage of the activity of government and municipal bodies, of the regional branches of federal bodies, and of the representatives of the President of Russian Federation is analyzed on the example of the Ryazan region as the subject of Russian Federation. The sociological survey of the Ryazan region’s citizens, and the following data analysis, shows that citizens send their requests just to the bodies and to the representatives, whom they know from regional media, without paying attention to their functions and responsibilities. Among the bodies and representatives, the institute of federal inspectors is the most unknown for the citizens.
The results of this research can be used to develop the recommendations to make informational imbalance in the coverage of the activities of regional public administration institutes in the Russian Federation less strong.
Key words: information imbalance, federal inspector, regional power, transaction costs, media coverage.
