Abstract. Retrospective digression to hooliganism sources is presented in the article. The author addresses to one of the most important monuments of the Old Russian state – Russkaya Pravda, containing the first mentions of signs of the specified socially dangerous act. In spite of the fact that legislative fixing of this act in the domestic legislation happened only after 1917, it is difficult to overestimate value of the Russkaya Pravda as in it it is necessary to look for sources of a legislative design of modern definition of hooliganism.
The intrinsic understanding of hooliganism which remained centuries later emphasizes value of the Russkaya Pravda for modern jurisprudence and law-enforcement practice in spite of the fact that in the Russkaya Pravda the questions devoted to responsibility for violation of public tranquillity are mentioned only indirectly. However, even such regulation of the interesting problem in this legal act going to the depth of centuries during formation of Russian law, cannot but cause the most fixed interest.
