Introduction: L.L. Kruglikov, who worked at P.G. Demidov Yaroslavl State University, passed away on April 25, 2025, at the age of 85. As his creative legacy, L.L. Kruglikov left the doctrine of legislative technique in criminal law and the doctrine of differentiation of criminal responsibility, as well as more than 50 students who defended candidate and doctoral dissertations. The purpose of the study is to systematize and evaluate the scientific heritage left by L.L. Kruglikov and to promote its popularization, dissemination, and use in scientific discourse. Methods: general scientific methods (formal-logical and system-structural), as well as special legal methods (formal-legal and historicallegal), were used. The general methodological framework was the dialectical method. As a result of the study, it is found that L.L. Kruglikov has made a significant contribution to the development of criminal law science, in particular, the theory of sentencing, the doctrine of differentiation of criminal responsibility, and the doctrine of legal technique in criminal law. Conclusion: L.L. Kruglikov’s ideas on legislative technique in criminal law and the differentiation of criminal responsibility, along with his views on other fundamental issues, form the scientific basis of the Yaroslavl Criminal Law School, serving as its ideological foundation and methodological framework.
