Introduction: the paper discusses the analysis of measures and directions of the state support for the investment industry in the context of the global COVID-19 virus pandemic, which are being implemented in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan. Purpose: to study measures of the state support for the investment industry in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: the empirical methods of comparison, description, interpretation; the theoretical methods of formal and dialectical logic. Results: the conducted research shows that the experience of the state support of the investment industry in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan has many common trends, uses similar tools and methods, but additional state support is required to get the industry out of the crisis. Conclusions: the state support of the investment industry in the face of new challenges caused by the global economic crisis provoked by the COVID-19 is the most important task of any state if it seeks to develop its own economy and not be in the rearguard of economic development.
