Abstract. This research aims to trace the genesis of the insurance law, to reveal the influence of various historical periods on the development of insurance business in its current form. In the entire history of Russian law the legal reforms of 1864 were the keystone and the original starting point of the insurance business in our country. The ideas of this reform are implemented and developed in modern Russia.
