COSSACK VILLAGE COURT AS ONE OF THE KINDS OF DON COSSACKS COURTS IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE XIXth CENTURY

Abstract. The article gives numerous evidence supporting the author’s conclusion that the organization and procedure of the work of Cossack village courts, which Don Cossacks had in the second half of the XIXth century. The courts were mainly regulated by the rule of the customary law rather than official legislation rules. The restoration of the concrete historical situation of the above mentioned issues gives the possibility for the author to outline and display various methods of influence on Cossack
village courts used by the Cossack communities in order to pronounce on the customary law by the village judges while determining controversies.
