Introduction: one of the priority directions of the world environmental policy is the legal regulation of public relations. In people’s minds there appeared the understanding that the optimal environmental conditions could be achieved not by simply fighting pollution, but with the help of positive human activity. The state piecemeal antipollution measures gave place to a multipurpose action system that received the legal formalization. One of the elements of this system is environmental entrepreneurship.
The aim of the work is to analyze the issues related to the legal essence of environmental entrepreneurship: its types, activity areas and their legal support. Methods: the methodological framework for this research is a set of methods of scientific knowledge, among which the main are the methods of system analysis and synthesis. Results: the work provides the development analysis of environmental entrepreneurship in this country and abroad. The concept and types of environmental entrepreneurship are considered. Based on the analysis, the necessity to regulate and legislatively consolidate the activity mechanism of environmental entrepreneurship is justified. Conclusions: the objective process of economic and social development of the society has led to the emergence of a new activity in the field of entrepreneurship - environmental entrepreneurship. This is the sphere of relations in the ecological market, regulated by the rules of law arising from performing the works, producing environmental protection products, conducting scientific and financial activities, and providing services.
