Abstract. The article deals with the possibility of the forensic research of various grades of gunpowder. The process of the jet at the time of the shot is considered. The author draws attention of the experts to the incomplete physical and chemical study of the gunpowder for the purpose of the determining the group correlation. It is also recommended to use the microscopic method of examination and to create an illustrated reference database of gunpowder.
