Abstract. The article deals with the scientific analysis of the questions related with customary law regulating and functioning of the organs of the territorial social self-government in the stanitsas and khutors of the area of the Don army in the second half of the XIX century. The above mentioned questions have never been the subject of scientific research either in historical and ethnological or historical and legal sciences.
