Introduction: the study of legal nihilism as a social phenomenon becomes necessary in building a democratic state and civil society. In the context of ongoing socio-economic and political reforms in the country, the question of the level of legal awareness of the population and the eradication of legal nihilism is particularly acute. The existing scientific studies of this phenomenon reveal its nature and essence insufficiently, so the relevance of this trend study is not in doubt. The aim of the study is a comprehensive study and analysis of the existing scientific approaches to the study of legal nihilism, as well as the development of specific recommendations to strive against this social phenomenon. Methods: the methodological framework of this research is both the general scientific and special legal methods of perception. Results: the researched scientific approaches to the study of the question of legal nihilism have allowed developing the author’s position proved in the work, which is based on the existing achievements of the competent scientific community on the nature and essence of legal nihilism. Conclusions: as a result of the research on the basis of the domestic and foreign sources the main questions of studying legal nihilism as a social phenomenon are researched, a number of factors which are the prerequisites for the emergence and development of legal nihilism in the society are highlighted, as well as a number of measures whose implementation will help eradicate legal nihilism are developed. The integrated fight against legal nihilism by raising the level of legal culture of the population, the development of legal education and the improvement of the legislation will allow achieving a positive public attitude towards the existing legal policy and increasing the activity of each member of the society in the implementation of the legal reforms in the country.
