Abstract. The article discusses the features of the excitation of criminal cases referred to the category of cases of private and private-public prosecution where the victim of a violent crime is a woman. The authors analyze the ratio of public and private interests in criminal cases in the order of part 4 art. 20 of Criminal Procedure Code, give the interpretation of regulatory statutes of art. 144 of Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation from the standpoint of protection of the rights and legitimate interests of women - victims of violent crime. The authors justify the need for a possible inspection of production, obtaining samples for comparative analysis, forensic examination with the participation of victims of crime only with their consent or the consent of their legal representatives.
