Abstract. The article deals with an attempt to apply the propositions of general theory of systems about the types of systems to the interpretation of the civil legislative system. In this case it is concluded that the latter is a complex purposeful artificial system that seeks to be a complete organic system. It is argued that it can simultaneously act as a material system and an ideal one.
