Abstract. The article deals with the questions of the essence and legal nature of good
conscience as a juridical category and revelation of its place in the system of relationship of
civil law. A detailed critical review of the present-day Russian legislation, application practice,
and legal literature on the problems of attribution of good conscience to the principles and
limits of law are represented.
