Abstract. The article attempts to summarize the political and legal development of Russia in the twenty years which have passed since the adoption of the current constitution. The author gives critical analysis of the political and legal system of Russia and defines the main directions of the constitutional development the Russian state based on Russia’s traditional sociocultural values.
