Abstarct. The article is devoted to the analysis of nature, features and content of basic law principles. Their characteristic features and the general theoretic classification criteria are revealed. Along with the established law principles’ division into common law principles, inter-branch and branch principles, the cognitive potential of their insufficiently developed division into general social and special legal principles is considered.
