Abstract. The article studies the regulatory and legal basis of the advocacy institution functioning in Ukraine. The special attention is paid to the analysis of the Law “On Bar and Advocacy” adopted on May 5, 2012 by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which made the advocacy practice more progressive and modern, with clearly defined opportunities for effective
protection of the rights, freedoms and interests of man and citizen. The received results may be used for further strengthening the regulatory legal basis of the functioning of the advocacy institute in Ukraine in the process of legislation enhancement.
